RECAP 2025

In 2025, the Bonn Climate Camp took place from June 6 to June 16th, alongside UN climate negotiations (UNFCCC SB62). The camp brought together climate activists, organizers, policymakers and locals from Bonn.

What the Camp Looked Like

Visitors arriving at the camp were welcomed at the “info point”, where two friendly volunteers answered questions, provided an overview of the daily program and other information. All other tents were arranged in a circle, creating an open central space with tables, benches and sunshades. Here, people gathered in small groups, worked together or simply spent time connecting.

Learning and Exchange

The camp hosted a wide range of workshops, discussions, skill-sharings and cultural activities. More than 160 programme sessions were held by civil society organizations from across the globe. Negotiation debriefs explained complex topics such as just transition, loss and damage, adaptation, mitigation, and gender in an accessible and understandable way.

Community and Care

The camp was busiest in the early evening. Shared meals and moments of unwinding played a key role in fostering connection and care, with at least 778 dinners served over the course of the camp. People left with renewed motivation and a shared commitment to advancing climate justice and meaningful climate action in Bonn and beyond.

“When I share my dinner with people from different areas of the world, everytime I really enjoy these moments! We share different experiences and projects and try to build a big movement.”

Geneviève – from Benin

“My favourite moment at the Bonn Climate Camp was having the opportunity to give a presentation on our project. It was a spotlight initiative and I think it’s so great that there is this outside space for people to really come together to show and display what they are working on and really get a community of world wide focus.”

Victoria – Future Generations Tribunal

“My inspiration was all the people working on this camp because they motivated me to continue participating each day here for helping and supporting more activists.”

Joseph – from Spain
